LLORA

Balenciga inspired Collar Project

Concept Statement

Llora
, meaning "to mourn" in Spanish, is a sculptural collar inspired by Cristóbal Balenciaga’s deep connection to grief, his Spanish heritage, and his use of black as an emotional and visual language. This piece explores mourning through form and restraint. Its rounded, cocoon-like shape reflects Balenciaga’s signature silhouettes, while the dark palette echoes his love of the black collar. Llora frames the body with quiet strength, acting as both a garment and a symbol. It marks the beginning of my exploration into fashion as a response to emotion, shaping the direction and tone of the final garment that followed.
